Dear Friends,

As every year, here is  the traditional 2003 sailing report to remember good times or make others dream.
Those who sent pictures will recognize them Thank you!

As usual every second year, Marc opens the season beginning of April with his 'special forces' team.  Live their adventure off season:   http://marc.messeant.free.fr/ .

Here at Astypalia:

Then, Jean Louis off the Turkish coast on a catamaran with Yann and Esther enjoys this amazing coast before the season.

Here in the Byzantine cove where the ruins of an ancient city hides into the trees.
Fred and Gauthier love Turkey so much that they came back twice within the year. Springtime thunderstorms showed us impressive tornados above the sea. The bimini top has been used  as a good protection for the rain. Fortunately thunderstorms last a few hours only.

Back to Greece in June with  Joseph,  Anne and their two children who discovered the advantage of a catamaran in the center of the Cyclades around Paros. Roomy, secure, fast.

Here the first sunset at Despothiko island  was memorable. We crossed several times the track of our colleagues in another PASSION catamaran: Rob came from the US to enjoy skate boarding and catamaran sailing in the same time!  We met once at Naxos at the door of a local ferry to deliver an outboard to him ... PASSION special service...

Then Yves had a great time with his son on this 32 footer in the Saronic gulf close to Athens;  Arnaud was discovering the Dodecanese archipelago on this very good Sun Odyssey 43, and Matina the northern Sporades on two new  identical  Bavaria 40 .

Matina who came from Australia to discover her country of origin by sea sent us those great pictures. Thanks Matina.

Skopelos, Northern Sporades June 2003.

Flo and Andrea had the privilege to get two skippers during their trip ; not because they were sailing a catamaran... it was a practical arrangement. Their pictures are amazing. specially the underwater ones and the sunset below...

Darell and his family from Canada were baptized by the sprays from strong winds close to Tilos island. It is warm, it doesn't last long, and it is a good experience for the future...

Didier sailed the Dodecanese; he had this short sentence after the cruise: ' Next year, same yacht, same skipper please!'.  Our friend Guido has an appointment next year already.

Jean Claude and Johann went on traveling on shore by car through Turkey after a pleasant cruise alongside the shore unreachable by land.  They went on visiting sites further inland.

Pierre and Dominique felt in love with Turkey;  they came back this year to this impressive coast with Yann and Esther as their hosts on a catamaran.

Luc , being a Breton, (the Celtic northern tip of France) didn't need  a skipper and sailed successfully his 46 feet yacht through the islands.

Pierre , from Canada, sailed on Mayero with Jean and Helen; some wind outside the harbor told them that the island of Nisyros was worth a two days visit.

The weather becoming better (strong winds do not last long here) everybody had a great time sailing smoothly.  Jean Paul and his family discovered the Turkish coves with Franck,

Philippe, a real friend that dreamt for a long time about sailing in our area (you remember, the 'In Memoriam' shooting in may 2002, http://www.lexis-numerique.fr/ ). The dream came true August 2003 in the north Dodecanese up to Patmos.

Chris, Luc and Johann who didn't forget our 1996 sailing trip, came back to the Cyclades on their own. Johann told us that he was very satisfied of the crew and the yacht, a Beneteau 461, because sailing upwind towards Athens is not for beginners!

Here is Santorini on the way!

Meanwhile Charlotte and her family were discovering sailing a yacht, and the Dodecanese archipelago with our friend captain Giorgio.

Isabelle and Jean Luc , just married,  were also baptized on Orpheus with Anne-Marie and Ralf. We met them on their way to Crete... A wonderful honey moon.

Bernard and Laurence came back to Greece after all. It was not easy to find the right yacht at the right moment but it happened in august in the North Sporades. Skiathos, Skopelos were fantastic and very relaxing they said.

Here is a picture of our friend Francois. He is as good trekking as sailing. His knowledge of the area is massive,  especially the Turkish coat. Yves who came from Belgium to relax on board of Tel Kel had a very peaceful time with him.

Fred and Gauthier , combining pleasure and sailing duty, are improving  every year in sailing control. Next year with a two yachts flotilla, they will ally self-sailing and skipper assistance.  The best and the most pleasant way to progress.

Then  Roger was surprised to wake up in the open sea with all the crew. A bad wind came in the early morning and forced the skipper (myself) to move the catamaran away. When we dropped the anchor at the feet of an Hellenistic fort, they had the privilege to have a Turkish breakfast. The other nights were quiet and the company had great fun all the times, like here in Chalkis.

Pierre choose the challenge to sail up to Athens against the wind in September. I told him that the Meltemi would be milder at this season. It was not a piece of cake every day though. When sailing off Sikinos in the center of the Cyclades, they had some difficulties reefing the jib. Fortunately our brave crew from Luxemburg found the only sail maker in the area in the close island of Ios.

Jacques and Renate sailed on a well known itinerary with pleasure.: the Dodecanese through Symi, Tilos, Chalkis, Nysiros, Kos, Pserimos, Kalymnos, Leros, Lipsoi, Patmos, Marathi... it is a good feeling to feel familiar to a place. In 2004, we are heading towards the Peloponese and its  mountains upon the sea, Sparta and the ancient cities...

Here at the mouth of the Dalyan river

At last, the 'Indian summer' sailors , the best off season period here, had a fantastic time as usual.  Stephen and his americano/french/brasiliano team sailed a racing yacht: (a  X 412 ) in October alongside the Turkish cost.

The Swiss closed the season sailing up to October 25th in the Greek islands with Pierre-Alain . It is definitely the Swiss year in the sailing world.

All together we sailed  287 days on 31 yachts.  With our new destinations of 2004: The Caribbean, Corsica, Sicily, Sardinia, Italy, Croatia, we are going to give access to more people to sailing cruises.  I personally know well these destinations, but cannot technically care about all inquiries. Our friends Delphine and Francois will do it efficiently for you.

Delphine ,  a French professional skipper, recently on the prestigious Swan yachts, crossed several times the Atlantic ocean. She has been professionally sailing  in the Caribbean for 10 years and will help you efficiently to organize your cruise there.

Francois, one of the first charter professional in the  area, previous base manager in Corsica, has been sailing permanently for more than 30 years in the Mediterranean sea. He knows particularly Croatia, Corsica, Sardinia and the Italian coast .  As well as Delphine, he is a field specialist ;  They will both help you efficiently, precisely and honestly to set up YOUR sailing cruise there.

All pictures are taken by us or our guests. We do not forget the others who sailed with us this year, they will remember as well !

See you soon for another year of successful adventures!

All the best for 2004!             Yann and  Servanne in Rhodes, Greece

Delphine and Francois, and our friends skippers: Anne-Marie, Ralf, Esther, Yann (the Turkish one) , Giorgio, Thierry, Jean,  François
